From karin.jonsell at geo.su.se Mon Dec 2 11:49:36 2013 From: karin.jonsell at geo.su.se (Karin Jonsell) Date: Mon, 2 Dec 2013 11:49:36 +0100 Subject: [Bolincentret-at-su.se] Bolin Centre: Bolin PPT template and some advice on presentation techniques Message-ID: <13808B34-2E26-404B-A33B-4249FD5E0D2D@geo.su.se> Dear Bolin Centre scientists, This is a friendly reminder to please use the Bolin power point template for you presentations. About the graphical profile We have been working hard to finalise the graphical profile for the Bolin Centre for Climate Research. As you all know Stockholm University is the larger part in the collaboration and according to common rules the layout and colors thus follow SU:s profile. However, we are very keen on displaying the other partners as much as possible and this has been accomplished in the new power point template below. Power point template Attached is the brand new power point template for the Bolin Centre. Please use it for all possible occasions! We humbly ask that also KTH and SMHI scientists agree to use it as this would greatly strengthen the reputation of the centre. Some guidance for a successful presentation I have produces a short power point presentation and a document about the benefits of talking to non-experts and practical advice on presentation techniques. Please have a look and you are most welcome to give me feed back on the material. Linking to Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) as research partners is a very prominent new feature in much of this call. Most people have little idea what an SME is and how we can creatively integrate our "fundamental research" with such "mission oriented" stuff. That is worth exploring and getting people to think out of the box before deciding if it is worthwhile to put in effort. Also the administration of projects in Horizon 2020 is very much simplified over FP7. Horizon 2020 is really worth getting on your radar screens NOW because building the necessary links to research consortium takes time and understanding of the system. Anders Clarh?ll has kindly provided lists of calls that he has distilled out of Horizon 2020 and they are attached. Also attached is the standard presentation downloadable from Horizon 2020 which Anders will elaborate upon. Come armed with questions. On the 18 Janaury 2014, INK is having a briefing by Anders Clarh?ll as part of another meeting at INK. The Prefekt of INK Arjen Stroeven has kindly agreed to coordinate with us. Also Prefekt of ITM Michael Mclachlan supports this event and wishes us to inform you that Anders Clarh?ll will have a separate specialty briefing for Contaminants and Toxics research groups in ITM. The Prefekts of MISU and IGV have leant their support. So let's do it. You are welcome . This workshop aims at building interdisciplinary knowledge on how permafrost regions play a key role in the Earth System and will give each participant a more overarching view on the topic beyond disciplinary research questions. To achieve this, the participants will exchange and share knowledge during thematic break-out sessions. They will also reflect and elaborate on the future avenues of permafrost research together with mentors who are chosen because of their key role in permafrost research either in large-scale international projects or science policy. > Limited travel and accommodation support is available on request. A peer-reviewed application process for stipends distribution among candidates will be conducted by the workshop organizers. > Deadline for workshop registration: December 15, 2013. > To register go to: http://www.eucop4.org/permafrost-young-researchers-workshop.html > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
