This is shown in a new study by researchers at the University of Gothenburg, Stockholm University, Åbo Akademi University and the University of Southern Denmark, published in the journal Ecosphere. Welcome to nominate the Bert Bolin Climate Lecturer 2022 To honour Professor Bolin, after which the Bolin Centre is named, the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University established the annual Bert Bolin Climate Lecture in 2008, shortly after Bert Bolin had passed away. Every year, a distinguished Bert Bolin Climate Lecturer is invited to Stockholm to hold a popular science lecture and a science seminar at the Bolin Centre for Climate Research. A list of previous Bert Bolin Lecturers is found here » (https://bolin.su.se/popular-science/bert-bolin-climate-lectures) Today, we have the pleasure to invite you to submit nominations for the Bert Bolin Climate Lecturer 2022! Please use the attached nomination form, and return it to us no later than October 14, 2021. If you have submitted a nomination in a previous year which you would like us to re-consider for 2022, it is sufficient to send an email stating this request to nina.kirchner at natgeo.su.se (mailto:nina.kirchner at natgeo.su.se) and alasdair.skelton at geo.su.se (mailto:alasdair.skelton at geo.su.se) . Your contribution is highly valued and appreciated, and we are looking forward to receiving your nomination, and an inspiring and exciting Bert Bolin Climate Lecture in 2022! One for the stable isotope laboratory (SIL), 17 million SEK, for getting a clumped isotope instrument and some peripherals. “This means that we will be able to separate temperature effects from the other effects working in the same direction in carbonates, for example foraminifers,“ says Magnus Mörth at the Department of Geological Sciences. The Department also received a 10.9 million SEK contribution for the SLAM lab. The core lab capacity will be increased to scan sediment cores when it comes to sensitivity and resolution. Both grants are funded by the Swedish Research Council. Just in Yesterday, the Swedish Research Council communicated the decision on the call Research Infrastructure of National interest (https://www.vr.se/english/applying-for-funding/decisions/2021-08-25-grant-for-research-infrastructure-of-national-interest.html) . Two grants were awarded infrastructure investments involving Bolin Centre-affiliated researchers, one related to ice-breaker Oden and one related to atmospheric research: ACTRIS Sverige - The Swedish Aerosols, Clouds, and Trace gases Research Infrastructure. Due to new government regulations, she has been told that SU cannot offer PhD students housing for the moment. If anyone knows of a place she can stay when she gets here, perhaps a few weeks or months until she gets her person number and can look on Blocket and so on, it will be much appreciated. She would be happy to share. I've cc'ed her here. Message-ID: Dear all! We have now opened the Baltic Sea Day registration, and I hope you have received the invitation below. Please feel free to share it with colleagues or others who might be interested! Från: Stockholm University Baltic Sea Day > Datum: onsdag 22 september 2021 12:38 Till: Isabell Stenson > Ämne: Conference registration now open! [Bild som tagits bort av avsändaren.] Stockholm University Baltic Sea Day 2021 Registration is now open! 2021 marks the start of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to support efforts to reverse the cycle of decline in ocean health. In addition, the global policy agendas are packed with discussions and negotiations on climate, biodiversity and ecosystem restoration – not least in the coming COP-meetings this fall and in the spring of 2022. The awareness of the oceans’ role in these issues is increasing, thanks to advances in science and outreach efforts by the research community. This Baltic Sea Day, 7 October, we will high-light Stockholm University’s ongoing research from seven departments on different anthropogenic pressures in the Baltic Sea, as well as methods and techniques that can be used in assessments and management support. Welcome to join us! Regarding the pandemic, we want to assure a safe event and there are a limited number of seats for participants joining us on campus, but the conference will also be broadcast. Please register for the online version if you want updates on how to join us remotely. * See the programme here * Read the abstract book Warm welcome, Stockholm University Baltic Sea Fellows Registration -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
