Ämne: Invitation: Pedagogical lunch seminar, March 5

Dear teachers and PhD students,

You are hereby invited to attend a lunch seminar about a new creative set of experiments included in Klassisk fysik (the first physics course within the bachelor program). A small sandwich and a smoothie will be served to those who register, see link below. Abstract:

...............................................
Transforming the first year thermodynamics laboratory
K. Dunnett, M. Kristiansson, G. Eklund, H. Öström, A. Rydh, F. Hellberg

The first experience of laboratory work that students studying physics at Stockholm University get in their degree is as part of the thermodynamics course. This laboratory work is now very different to a year ago.

We will present how we transformed a prescribed set of measurements into a genuine experimental experience for students, outlining the questions and concerns that we faced and how we addressed them. The students now have control over many aspects of their laboratory work and have appreciated the control over their experiment, especially in the second session where they have the freedom to investigate in any direction they wish to.
...............................................

Time: Thursday, March 5, 12:15-13:00 (sandwiches served from 12:00)
Place: FB52
Register at: https://simplesignup.se/event/164642 (deadline March 2, if you want sandwich and smoothie)

Please feel free to forward the invitation to any postdocs who you think might be interested but who are not on the kollegium mailing list!

Welcome!
Best regards /Emma
