It is a great pleasure to announce that on Friday, March 18th at 4:00pm, Pierluca will talk about “Nuclear fission: with great power comes great responsibility”.

Abstract: This talk is an informal introduction to nuclear physics with special emphasis on the physics on nuclear fission, which is a good example of how simple and intuitive laws of Nature lead to important consequences in our everyday life. The practical challenges of obtaining energy from nuclear fission are discussed, together with the main reasons behind the most important nuclear accidents.
