Ämne: Reminder Last Scientific Fika of this Season – Today Friday June 3rd 4:00pm Hybrid Room Mega – Francesco “From scattering amplitudes to gravitational waves”

Dear Juniors,

Just a kindly reminder about our today session Friday, June 3rd at 4:00pm, where Francesco will talk about “From scattering amplitudes to gravitational waves”.

Abstract: Recent detections of gravitational waves coming from massive compact objects binaries are opening "a new window to the universe” and unveiling the nature of strongly gravitating systems existing in nature. In this talk, I will outline how certain scattering amplitudes techniques, that are mostly relevant in the framework of quantum field theory, can be successfully borrowed and used to describe the classical two-body problem in general relativity.
