</b></font><font style="font-size:14pt" size="4" face="Helvetica,
Arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-weight:normal">Streams of particles moving close to the speed of light, or relativistic jets, are common in astrophysical systems -- from forming stars
to supermassive black holes at the centres of galaxies. They are unlikely to be launched in a laminar fashion, and shocks are thus likely to form within them. These shocks can be an important feature in explaining how the light is emitted from these environments.
Here, I will describe a project of our group looking at the effects associated with 2D structure of such shocks.</span></font><font style="font-size:12pt" size="3" face="Helvetica, Arial,
