A postdoctoral position to assemble and annotate the Fusarium
virguliformae genome is currently available. F. virguliformae causes
sudden death syndrome in soybean. Its genome carries about 45 mb DNA.
The project will also provide opportunity to (i) analyze deep EST
libraries of the pathogen tissues as well as soybean tissues infected
with the pathogen, and (ii) conduct comparative genomics among related
F. virguliformae species. Additional information about the project can
be obtained from Dr. Madan K. Bhattacharyya (mbhattac at iastate.edu;
phone 515-294-2505), Iowa State University. The applicants for the
position must have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or computer sciences and
records of publications. The applications will be reviewed starting
May 1.
