School of Medical Sciences (MV) at Örebro University is seeking
a
postdoctoral researcher in Functional Bioinformatics, for a
fixed-term appointment</span></p>

position is part of the research group Functional Bioinformatics
and
closely associated with both Nutrition-Gut-Brain Research
Centre, <br>

<h2 class="m_1556163285611802295western"><span lang="en-GB">Duties and responsibilities</span></h2>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">Research
involves implementing and further developing appropriate data
analysis algorithms and workflows, as well as statistical and
systems <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">biological modelling approaches. Different levels
of functional
molecular data are available, from experiments with human cell
cultures and/or <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">gastro-intestinal biopsies, as well as from cohorts
in clinical trials regarding cardiovascular disease.
Inflammatory
processes are at the core <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">of functional research in all of these
cases. Statistical bioinformatics, network analyses and
functional
systems biological modelling methods <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">will be applied and further
developed in order to better understand the ongoing regulatory
cross-talk in this kind of systems. Machine learning <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">as well as more advanced AI approaches are at the
core of our methodological research.<br>
</span></p>
<h2 class="m_1556163285611802295western"><span lang="en-GB">Eligibility</span></h2>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">Eligible
for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants
holding
a doctoral degree in statistics, computer science,
bioinformatics, <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">systems biology or in related subject areas. The
doctoral degree
should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the
application deadline. <br>
</span></p>
<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">Candidates who have obtained their doctoral
degree prior to that may however also be considered if special
grounds exist (leave of absence due <br>
</span></p>

clinical duties, an elected position in a trade union, or other
similar circumstances).</span></p>

successful candidate has a firm background in
statistics/mathematics
and in computer science. Important competences include
programming in <br>

<p class="m_1556163285611802295western" style="margin-bottom:2.82mm;line-height:108%"><span lang="en-GB">R/MATLAB/C/Fortran, experience in statistical
learning and AI machine
learning/ANN, as well as experiences in systems biological
modelling
approaches.</span></p>

assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an
ability
to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise
