The Bolin Centre is a multi-disciplinary consortium of over 350 scientists in Sweden that conducts research and graduate education related to the Earth´s climate.
New article in NatureCommunications
A new study by researchers from Germany and Sweden (Gia Destouni, NG) has revealed the development of drought impacts, like in this summer, across Europe. The study shows that persisting and accumulating precipitation deficits cause decreased soil moisture within days and lower stream flows within weeks, while vegetation and crops can remain unaffected for several months. The article “Drought reduces blue-water fluxes more strongly than green-water fluxes in Europe” is published HERE» (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-018-06013-7)

New article in Nature Ecology and Evolution
Stefano Manzoni (NG), Gustaf Hugelius (NG), Juri Palmtag (NG) are co-authors of the article “A plant–microbe interaction framework explaining nutrient effects on primary production”, which is published HERE» (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41559-018-0662-8?utm_source=Nature_community&utm_medium=Community_sites&utm_content=BenJoh-Nature-MultipleJournals-Evolutionary_Biology-Global&utm_campaign=MultipleJournals_USG_ECOEVO) . The idea behind the study is presented by the first author HERE» (https://natureecoevocommunity.nature.com/users/174968-petr-capek/posts/38664-consequences-of-differential-nutrient-limitation-of-plants-and-soil-microorganisms) - it all started with a passionate discussion about the relevance of phosphorus (P) limitation in Arctic tundra soils.
