Dear colleagues,
A forum for teachers has been on the wishlist for some time, and following discussions in GUK, and at the latest collegium meeting, we decided on utilizing Slack for this purpose. Fysikum already has a Slack workspace that you can all log into via fysikumworkspace.slack.com using your SU account, and the workspace contains chat channels for communication around different topics related to work at the department. Since Slack supports both chatting, file sharing, and organization (through "canvases"), it is suitable for informal communication and collegial sharing in a way that Athena is not optimized for. We are therefore abandoning the Athena page "Fysikum Teachers' Forum" and transferring communication and information sharing around pedagogical topics to the newly created Slack channel #teachers-forum under the Fysikum workspace.
In the channel, we'll post things like invitations to upcoming pedagogical seminars and other information that is relevant for your teaching at Fysikum. But it's also intended to be an informal chat forum for all of us, where we can ask questions, discuss teaching, and share pedagogical ideas amongst us. In other words, we contribute and add value to the channel together. Have you read an interesting pedagogical paper, or attended a helpful CeUL workshop? Have you come across a challenge in your course that you'd like input on? Great, let others know in the chat! Documents and other sources can be gathered together with comments in "canvases" for easy sharing and storing of information.
The #teachers-forum channel is exclusively for teachers and PhD students at Fysikum, and everyone belonging to the "kollegium" or "drand" e-mail lists should already be added to the channel. Please log into the Fysikum workspace in Slack and make sure that the teachers-forum channel is available to you. If it's not, please send an e-mail to emma at fysik.su.se<mailto:emma at fysik.su.se> and we'll add you manually.
And, finally, we would like to remind you of the lunch workshop on remote teaching formats, taking place on May 15. Attending pedagogical events like this is another great way to exchange ideas, and we would generally like to see an increased participation. Here's the registration link again: https://su.powerinit.com/Data/Event/EventTemplates/2602/?EventId=3083
Cheers!
Emma and Fredrik
