Dear colleagues,
To accommodate for those who cannot be present at seminar but still would like to listen, it will be available on Zoom with the following link:
https://stockholmuniversity.zoom.us/j/63044984173
You are invited to a seminar about how PhD students view their future academic career, presented by Johanna Stadmark from Lund University. We know that fewer women continue in academia after their PhD so this is a critical issue if we are to reach gender balance at our universities.
Date and time: November 26, 10.00
Room: FA31
Title:
Career plans among PhD students - are there gendered differences?
Abstract:
Fewer women than men progress into tenured positions and become professors after finishing their doctoral education. Why is that?
In a project at the Faculty of Science, Lund University, we investigated whether PhD students of different genders alter their career plans differently during the doctoral studies. Change per se is not a 'failure' but institutional practices and culture may impact individuals and groups differently. This was a first attempt to understand the career motivations and potential obstacles for all doctoral students at the faculty. I will present the project results and then we open up for a joint discussion on how to move forward.
Most welcome!
