Title: For Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Orbits

Abstract: The space environment around Earth has become increasingly congested. The rapid growth of both satellites and space debris, particularly in lower orbits, combined with the lowering barriers to entry for new spacefaring nations and entities, is introducing new complexities in an already challenging domain. Space Traffic Management (STM) systems are struggling to keep pace with these changes, leading to a significant global demand for more accurate tracking data of resident space objects.

At the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC), we have launched a Space Safety Program aimed at enhancing the safety, security, and sustainability of space operations. One of our flagship projects includes the establishment of a passive optical Space Surveillance & Tracking (SST) station in Western Australia. This talk will highlight the capabilities of this station, how we remotely operate it with a high degree of automation, and its potential role in supporting global space traffic management activities
