The Division for Simulation of Biological Systems, University of
Tübingen, Germany, is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate for the
Computational Immunomics group.
Computational Immunomics is a quickly developing field in the
intersection of bioinformatics and immunology. Computational methods in
immunology have proven helpful in the basic understanding of biological
processes and in the development of vaccines against e.g. HIV and
certain cancer types. Our focus areas include modelling of antigen
processing, docking of MHC-peptides, and large scale analysis of
immuno-proteomics data. The work will be carried out in close
collaboration with experimental groups.
The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent with a
background in one of the following fields: bioinformatics, computer
science, chemistry, physics, or biology. Knowledge of fundamental
aspects of computer science (algorithms and data structures, discrete
mathematics, programming languages) is required and some immunology
experience is a plus.
The starting date of the project is October 1, 2005 and the salary is
according to the federal salary scale (BAT) on the level of IIa/2.
Applications including CV, cover letter, and naming of two academic
referees are to be submitted by August 15, 2005.
