Subject: postdoctoral position in Barcelona

Dear friends and colleagues,

I'm currently looking for a postdoc for my new lab in Barcelona, and would be
grateful if you could post or forward this advert to those that you think might
be interested in the position.

Thanks,

PTCK.

Institute for Biomedical Research - Barcelona Scientific Park (IRB-PCB)
Structural bioinformatics lab

Postdoctoral position

The IRB is one of the premier institutes in the emerging biomedical research
environment of Barcelona. It brings together 22 research groups and fosters
multidisciplinary research on Oncology, Developmental Biology, Molecular
Medicine, Chemistry and Structural & Computational Biology. The PCB hosts
research groups from both the public and private sectors and offers
outstanding core facilities and an optimal setting to perform state-of-the-art
research (see http://www.pcb.ub.es for further information).

The successful candidate will be involved in scientific projects to study
protein-protein interactions, complexes and signalling networks using a variety
of computational approaches combined with experimental data.

The applicant should have a strong background in molecular biology (PhD
preferred), with reasonable exposure to protein three-dimensional structures,
protein interactions and macromolecular complexes. He or she should also have
good computing skills and programming/scripting experience, ideally in C and
Perl. Previous experience with handling large-scale biological data would be an
asset. The institute offers a great multi-disciplinary atmosphere, top-class
research facilities and an initial contract of 2-3 years' duration, depending
on the applicant's qualifications.

Applications should be sent to Dr Patrick Aloy (aloy at embl.de) and should include
CV, list of publications and the names of two potential referees.
