Assistant Editor for EMBO Reports

EMBO Reports, a journal published by the European Molecular Biology  
Organization (EMBO), is seeking an Assistant Editor. The successful  
candidate will work primarily with the Science & Society and Reviews  
editors, and his/her responsibilities will include:

o editing Science & Society and Reviews articles for length, style and  
grammar;
o writing topical 'analysis' articles for publication in the Science &  
Society section;
o checking articles for their factual correctness;
o coordinating the book reviews and meeting reports;
o researching review proposals and assessing their novelty and  
timeliness;
o maintaining contact with authors to ensure timely delivery of their  
original and revised manuscripts;
o working closely with our publishers, Nature Publishing Group, on  
monthly proofs, marketing and other journal-related activities; and
o contributing ideas for the Science and Society section.

Qualifications and experience: Candidates should have a PhD in some  
sub-discipline in the field molecular biology, but should show a broad  
interest in diverse areas of the life sciences. A good working  
knowledge of English is essential, and meticulous attention to detail  
is paramount, as are communicative and organisation skills and the  
ability to work well in a team.
