The Bioscience Department in Lund, Sweden, is part of the Respiratory and Inflammation Research Area, where we focus on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and Rheumatoid Arthritis. We are looking into opportunities to build upon an exciting early stage portfolio and to improve prediction of clinical outcomes using informatics-based methods. 
The Role: 
We are looking for a talented Bioinformatician to strengthen our capabilities within Knowledge Engineering, Systems Biology and Predictive Biology. The position resides within the Translational Science section in the Bioscience Department, which provides innovative technologies and direct project support to our drug discovery and development activities. Based in one of the teams, you will focus on integrating Knowledge Engineering and Systems Biology fully onto the workflow of the Discovery Function. It is a newly created role that will increase our focus on informatics enabled target selection and predicted clinical outcomes of our drug pipeline. In the role, you will work closely with biologists within the Research Area and with system developers in our Discovery Information Area. 
The successful candidate will work with: 
*	Drug discovery and development project decision support translating biological database content into project relevant information 
*	Escalation of data and literature mining to a high-throughput level enabling predictive biology 
*	Some statistical analysis of biological data sets including biological interpretation of results using leading-edge statistical tools.
About you: 
The preferred candidate has an academic degree within bioinformatics (PhD equivalent) and proven combined skills within the fields of human biology and bioinformatics - more specifically Knowledge Engineering and Systems Biology. Some Information Science capabilities would be an advantage. Experience with drug discovery and/or Translational Science is preferred through at least 3-5 years of experience from the pharmaceutical industry. But of main importance is the ability to provide input that delivers real business impact by transforming information in databases into project relevant decision support. 
Communication, presentation and consultancy skills as well as fluency in English and a high level of motivation are essential to work effectively with scientists and managers internationally and at different levels of the business. Our activities are based on a high level of networking and better practice sharing.
