Bioinformatician position – High throughput sequencing
We are looking for a bioinformatician that will work with analysis of
data from high throughput sequencing.
The position belongs to the Core Facility for Bioinformatics at Oslo
University Hospital (OUS) and the University of Oslo (UiO), Norway. We
offer services to support users within the biomedical area with problems
within bioinformatics. The users are located at different institutions
in the Oslo region, including OUS (Rikshospitalet, Radiumhospitalet,
Ullevål and Aker), UiO, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and
the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science.
Several institutions have already or will soon obtain equipment based on
new technology for high throughput DNA sequencing. We therefore wish to
offer competence and support for handling and analysis of the data
generated. The instruments can generate terabytes of data for each run
and computers with huge storage and processing capabilities have and
will be acquired. The technology can be used for sequencing of whole or
partial new or known genomes from anything from bacteria to humans.
There are many new and interesting applications within medical and
biological research and diagnostics for analyses based on this technology.
We are seeking a candidate with a Master level degree (or higher) within
biology, computer science or a related field and an interest in
bioinformatics. The candidate should be well experienced with databases
and with programming.
The position will be located in Oslo. It is a full time position and
ends 31 July 2012. Languages: Norwegian or English. No travelling required.
