Department of Informatics at the University of Bergen and
Bergen Center for Computational Science (Computational
Biology Unit) are seeking applicants with a strong background
in theoretical/computational biophysics and bioinformatics to
study mechanisms of allostery and evolution of protein function.
The project will include developing molecular model of allosteric
regulation based on the analysis and modelling of physical
interactions and their networks in proteins. Elucidating of
evolutionary mechanisms leading to the function of interest
and its regulation is the second part. Collaboration with
an experimental group working on the protein function
dynamics is planned. The term of employment for this position
is 2 years. PhD in theoretical biology/chemistry/biophysics or
bioinformatics and a good publication record is a prerequisite.
Previous experience in physics, computer science, bioinformatics
or applied statistics will be a plus. They should possess strong
quantitative skills and be highly proficient in at least one major
programming language, including Perl, C/C++.
