PREDECT (www.predect.eu) has vacancies for 11 Postdoctoral Fellows in
varying research disciplines and different European institutions,
offering a unique opportunity for fellows to work at a cutting-edge
public-private interface. Some posts will be actively co-supervised by
pharmaceutical and academic researchers. Interaction will be dynamic and
frequent, allowing for rapid progress and integration of new findings
across research labs and model platforms.

Project Description
This research project aims to develop analysis resources and methods to
support target validation through comparative analysis and systems
biology approaches.
Objectives
Develop new methods for comparative pathway analysis in different model
systems
Manage biomolecular data and analysis tools for the PREDECT consortium
Integrate BIIT tools (g:Profiler, MEM, etc) and other public analysis
software for the PREDECT
Assist participating labs to perform necessary analysis tasks and
identify promising areas for bioinformatics methods development

Applicants must hold an appropriate degree in the field related to
methodology or applications of bioinformatics or systems biology. Strong
communication skills and demonstrated track record of innovative
scientific publications or high-quality MSc research is needed.
Please send your application as a single PDF, including a letter of
motivation, CV and contact info of 2-3 references no later than April 30
2011 to jaak.vilo at ut.ee. Specify that you are applying to PREDECT in
your email subject line and at the head of your PDF.

PREDECT is an IMI-funded partnership between 9 academic, 3 SME (Small
and Medium Enterprise) and 7 EU pharmaceutical partners, aiming to
develop novel, advanced, complex in vitro and in vivo models for breast,
prostate and lung cancers. Three dimensional complex cell cultures,
attempting to closely mimic in vivo tumors, will be investigated for
their improved potential to validate therapeutic targets, applying
molecular pathology and systems biology methods to compare the circuitry
of resting and perturbed states. The project is expected to shift
paradigms in cell biology as well as preclinical target validation,
permitting greater predictivity of drug efficacy in patient cohorts.
PREDECT has vacancies for 11 Postdoctoral Fellows in varying research
disciplines and different European institutions, offering a unique
opportunity for fellows to work at a cutting-edge public-private
interface. Some posts will be actively co-supervised by pharmaceutical
and academic researchers. Interaction will be dynamic and frequent,
allowing for rapid progress and integration of new findings across
research labs and model platforms.
Applicants must hold a PhD in molecular & cellular biology,
biochemistry, bioinformatics or in vivo mouse models, relevant to the
individual positions. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record
of innovative scientific publications, and a strong interest in
molecular medicine and cancer target validation approaches. Excellent
communication skills are required.
The terms of employment are initially for 3 years, subject to guidelines
imposed by the individual hosts, and salary for the posts will be based
on the respective host institution’s salary system. Terms will be
negotiated based on the qualities of the candidate.
Applications should be sent as a single PDF, including a letter of
motivation, CV and contact info of 2-3 references. Please send your
application directly to the PI of the individual research project, no
later than April 30 2011.
