2 Postdoc positions available at the Center for Disease Systems Biology

Do environmental chemicals disturb sex development and semen quality?

The Center for Disease Systems Biology is a virtual research center aimed at creating an interdisciplinary platform for investigating genetic disease networks using systems biology approaches.

The two groups behind the Center for Disease Systems Biology are the Center for Biological Sequence Analysis (headed by Professor Søren Brunak) at the Technical University of Denmark, representing one of the larger European centers for bioinformatics and systems biology, and the Department for Growth and Reproduction (headed by Professor Anders Juul), Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen, representing a world leading group within growth and pubertal disorders, infertility, and testicular cancer.

The successful candidates will be working in interdisciplinary projects where information in biobank entries, questionnaires and registries will be combined with sequences, SNP data, expression data, chemical-protein and protein-protein interaction data to identify environmental and lifestyle factors as well as genes involved in growth and reproduction.

Qualifications
The ideal postdoc candidates will hold a strong PhD in bioinformatics, systems biology, computational biology or in molecular and cellular biology, as well as a relevant publication record. Experience with biological data mining, basket analysis, questionnaire analysis or text mining would be favorable along with good analytical skills.

We offer
We offer an exciting and challenging job in an international environment with a good team spirit and good possibilities for professional and personal growth. We are a family-friendly organisation with flexible working hours.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The positions are available from 1 October 2011 for a period of 2 years.
