=================================

Full Professor in « Modeling in Biology »
Department of Biology - Université Pierre et Marie Curie

The position is open to computer scientists, mathematicians or
physicists working in the modeling of biological systems. The research
project(s) proposed by the professor should address either the
development of mathematical methods (statistics, combinatorics and
combinatorial optimization, learning, discrete or continuous dynamical
systems, control theory) or the development of computational methods
(numerical simulation, parameters estimation) in biology. The project
will have applications in systems biology, complex biological systems,
computational neurosciences, population genetics, genome evolution,
etc.

The professor will participate in the teaching and the organization of
the Biomathematics and Biostatistics courses proposed by the
Department of Biology at the Licence and Master levels.

The “Université Pierre et Marie Curie” in Paris is one of the largest
(30,000 students, 3,250 researchers) in France and it features a
dynamic and valuable work site in the heart of Paris. The candidate
will join the future Department of Quantitative Biology of the
Institute of Biology Paris – Seine, headed by A. Carbone

The Department of Quantitative Biology of the future Institute of
Biology Paris – Seine (official creation at 01/01/2014) provides a
fully interdisciplinary environment by regrouping experimental
biologist and physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists
interested in working at the interface with biology. The institute
offers a stimulating scientific environment with a very large number
of themes (developmental biology, neurosciences, cell signaling and
RNA metabolism, genomics, systematics and evolution, aging and life
dynamics), excellent experimental infrastructures (next generation
sequencing, microscopy,…) and unique computing facilities conceived
for the development of new modeling and simulation approaches. Until
2014, the professor will join the laboratory “Genomics of
Microorganisms” (UMR 7238), headed by A.Carbone.
