There is an opening for a Neuroinformatics Scientist at Karolinska Institutet.

Neuroinformatics Scientist
We are looking for a scientist to complement our team and help serve the community. The ideal candidate will provide critical oversight and management of the development and deployment of large scale cloud-based infrastructure for neuroscience data management, analysis and integration.
Key function
The candidate will oversee the deployment of a range of cloud/HPC technologies for use in neuroscience applications. He/she will advise members of the international community about applying these technologies to their application areas. The candidate will also participate in the INCF Programs, including Digital Brain Atlasing, Ontologies of Neural Structures, Multiscale Modeling and Data Sharing. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more neuroscience areas including electrophysiology, neural imaging, fMRI/MRI/DTI, computational modeling, bioinformatics, etc.
Required skills
Education/Experience: PhD or related experience in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and/or related technical discipline.
Desired Skills:
Python, iRODS, map/reduce, bioinformatics, large-scale data management, advanced java, C++, analytics, linked data, big data and deep analytics. Windows and Unix/Linux, Databases (Oracle, MySQL, and others) and third-party applications
Experience in one or more scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.)
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to work in an agile, dynamic environment
Ability to manage project milestones and budgets
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
Experience with large data sets/analysis
Training or experience with distributed programming environments such as Hadoop/ MapReduce
Data mining
Web services
This position may require overnight travel up to 10% of the time and involve some irregular working hours due to collaboration in different time-zones.
The position is full-time, based at Karolinska Institute with a one-year contract and the possibility for prolongation.
