Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Systems Biology (CyTOF imaging) : Zurich,
Switzerland****

*A Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Systems Biology (CyTOF imaging)*
is available in the group of Prof. Bodenmiller at the Institute of
Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Zurich. The successful
candidate will study communication and decision making of tumor and normal
cells in the breast cancer tumor microenvironment. You will exploit a
unique CyTOF based technology, called imaging mass cytometry, that allows
measurement and visualization of up to 100 proteins, phosphorylation sites
and other markers simultaneously with subcellular resolution. You will map
cell types, signaling networks and their interactions with spatial
resolution on a system-wide scale in human breast cancer tumors and
metastases. Using bioinformatics approaches, hypotheses about cell-to-cell
communication and signaling network states critical for the process of
metastasis will be generated and followed up using targeted molecular
biology approaches.****

*You are*
a highly motivated Ph.D. or M.D. Ph.D. with a passion for science who would
like to work in an collaborative multidisciplinary research field that
combines systems biology, biomedicine, bioinformatics, molecular biology
and analytical sciences. Ideally you have
- a strong background in cancer systems biology, signaling in the tumor
microenvironment and handling of patient samples and model systems of
(breast) cancer,
- a background in or familiarity with data analysis/bioinformatics,
- willingness to collaborate with researchers of other areas (e.g.,
bioinformatics), and
- a track record of first author publications in peer-reviewed journals.****

*Apply by*
sending by email a cover letter (including an explanation of your
motivation), CV and at least two references to Prof. B. Bodenmiller (
bernd.bodenmiller at imls.uzh.ch). The position is available in mid-November
and applications will be considered until the position is filled.****
