Google Summer of Code (GSoC): OpenMS and NRNB accepted by mentoring
organizations. Apply now!

Google runs an annual summer program called Google Summer of Code (GSoC),
in which Google pays students to work on open-source software. The students
work remotely from wherever they live, on projects organized by various
groups under the umbrella of a mentoring organization. In the past, members
of the University of Tübingen have had projects accepted under the umbrella
of the NRNB (National Resource for Network Biology), doing great work and
starting ongoing projects.

Google is running GSoC again this year. This time the NRNB (
http://www.nrnb.org/gsoc.html) and the Open Bioinformatics Foundation (OBF)
(http://obf.github.io/GSoC/) are represented.

The following projects will be directly mentored at the University of
Tuebingen:

   -

   NRNB http://goo.gl/JrcvYv
   -

   OpenMS http://obf.github.io/GSoC/ideas/#openms

If you're a student and are interested in one of the projects, you can
contact

Oliver Alka, Timo Sachsenberg or Dr. Andreas Dräger for more information. If

you're faculty, perhaps you could suggest this opportunity to some of your

students?

Important dates (see https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com):

   -

20 March: Student application period opens
   -

   03 April: Student application deadline
   -

04 May: Accepted student proposals announced
