Backend or Full Stack Web Developer/Bioinformatician for biological

Application deadline: 15. mar 2018
We are looking for a Web Developer with a strong computer background to
develop web-based visualizations of bioinformatics data and analysis within
a Linux based environment. Visualization solutions will be dependent on
biological and meta data types. The primary responsibility will be setting
up/maintaining a platform for sharing Bioinformatics data between external
partners and Statens Serum Institut (SSI) through the Computerome (a
supercomputer cluster).

*About Department of Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi*
We are about 110 employees covering many different educational backgrounds.
Our main responsibilities are within the areas of laboratory-based
surveillance and diagnostics of infections caused by bacteria, parasites or
fungi.

You will be based in our cross functional bioinformatics group and working
together with bioinformaticians, IT-specialists and microbiologists in
designing, developing and implementing the Computerome transition. Being
able to work within this group and in this development environment with a
technical focus will be essential.

In addition, the bioinformatics group are involved in a variety of
surveillance and research projects primarily working with bacterial and
resistance data in the form of Illumina and MinION generated sequence data.

We operate both on a small Linux based local cluster and on the
Computerome, so having a strong background in Linux is important. Currently
development is primarily done in Python and R with a likely focus on Python
in relations to web development (plotly, Jupyter notebooks, dash, Flask,
Django).

*Your responsibilities *
Your responsibilities include being an expert as a full stack developer,
server side, or both to advise and implement this system. This will involve
working in a bioinformatics group and regular communication with internal
and external collaborators. Your input will be important in shaping how SSI
and external collaborators communicate bioinformatics data. Tasks will
include:
• Development of visual web based solutions for routine and project based
datasets.
• Developing, installing, testing and maintenance of server side programs.
• Provide expert input/advice related to IT and development decisions.
• Assist in systems administration.
• Potential involvement in bioinformatics projects.

*About you*
You have a strong background in programming through training (MSc in
Computer Science, Bioinformatics or equivalent) and 3-5 years relevant job
experience in web development. You have a strong technical foundation and
are comfortable providing input/advice in regards to IT and development
decisions. You are comfortable working in a team and handling
responsibility on multiple projects. Additional skills/interests of
relevance are bioinformatics, statistics, data science and microbiology.

*We offer*
Important public health related tasks in a recognized company with high
professionalism and an active research and development environment. You
will have a large interface and dedicated colleagues. We are a flexible and
family-friendly workplace with 37 hours working week incl. lunch break. We
consider competence development very important. We are centrally located in
Copenhagen close to the metro and bus, and there is free parking on the SSI
area. If you are applying for the job from outside of Denmark, you may
