*Postdoc in Computational Social Science at the Santa Fe Institute*



SFI seeks a program postdoc to play a key role in a project using natural
language processing, online group experiments, and computational modeling
to study social dynamics in online discussions and problem-solving groups.
The project is positioned at the intersection of literatures on
exploration-exploitation tradeoffs, collective problem solving, social
learning, and social judgments.



The position will enable transdisciplinary training in theories and methods
relevant for studies of complex social systems. Postdoctoral fellows are
encouraged to participate in the postdoctoral fellows leadership program
activities and to interact and collaborate with members of the larger SFI
community.



The position can start immediately and will last for 18 months. It includes
full employee benefits including insurance, paid time off, family leave
support, and modest relocation support.



Qualifications:

.demonstrated experience in working with social media data and in using
natural language processing methods to analyze large textual corpora

.strong quantitative and computational skills; facility in using Python;
facility in either Matlab or R; web programming is a plus

.strong interest in quantitative modeling of cognitive and social processes

.good writing skills

.a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively

.evidence of the ability to think outside traditional paradigms

.a Ph.D. in any scientific discipline and exemplary academic record
