Service scientist – bioinformatics

Computational Biology Unit
Bergen Center for Computational Science (BCCS)
UNIFOB AS (Bergen University Foundation)

A fulltime position as service scientist is available within the
Computational Biology Unit (CBU) at the Bergen Centre for Computational
Science (BCCS), Unifob AS. BCCS is a research institute with 45
employees counting more than 10 different nationalities. CBU is a
laboratory devoted to research in bioinformatics, and also provides
services in bioinformatics to Norwegian researchers working within
functional genomics.

The service scientist recruited will work in the service group of CBU.
Services offered by this group are for example: consultancy, assistance
in data analysis, in writing computer programs, in designing and
maintaining databases, in writing web interfaces to scientific programs.
The group currently consists of two scientists and one programmer.

The ideal candidate has a master degree in molecular biology or a
related field, extensive experience in bioinformatics, programming
skills in different languages, experience from different operating
systems, knowledge of databases and web programming. Candidates with a
master in computational science/informatics will also be considered.
Extensive knowledge in molecular biology is required. Experience from
bioinformatics or from related scientific fields is an advantage.

The position is available preferably starting March 1^st 2007. Please
