[Socbin] Bioinformatics researcher position

A bioinformatics researcher position is available at the Biotechnology
Centre of Oslo (BiO), UiO from May 2, 2007. (The starting date is
negotiable).
The position has a duration of three years and is financed by the BiO/UiO
and administrated by the University of Oslo. 


Job description: The position is part of an ongoing project to identify
genes involved in multi-locus diseases. Methods employed will include
collection and analysis of protein interaction network data and of
text-mining data.  The position provides an excellent opportunity to work in
a truly cross-disciplinary research field at the very edge of current
technology and knowledge.

Qualifications and experience: The candidate should have at least an M.Sc.
in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field to work as a
developer.  Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. who will
work at a post-doctoral or researcher level. Experience with any of
interaction network analysis, statistics, machine learning and/or
text-mining is preferred.  However, all applications should demonstrate
strong analytical and programming skills. The candidate should have
excellent verbal, writing, reporting, communication and organizational
skills; ability to work independently for the common goal of a team, as well
as to work interactively with experimentalists and other developers.
