DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN
Computer Aided Design of Stable Enzymes
A collaborative project involving the University of Copenhagen,
Novozymes A/S, Roskilde University, and the University of
British Colombia
Funded by DSF-NABIIT
Four positions at the University of Copenhagen
The objective of the project is to provide the scientific community with a
rational design
“package”, i.e. theoretical framework, software, databases, and experimentally
validated
examples of applications, for increasing protein stability.
2 Postdoctoral Positions in Computational Chemistry/Structural Bioinformatics
Two postdoctoral positions are available in the research group of Jan Jensen at
the
Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen. The research is in the area
of
structural bioinformatics and will involve a significant amount of code
development as well
as systematic studies of protein structure/function relationships. The project
will involve
development of our popular PROPKA program (http://propka.ki.ku.dk) for protein
pKa
prediction, and will be done in collaboration with researchers in France and the
US.
Experience in any one of these areas is less important than a demonstrated
ability to do firstrate
scientific research as evidenced by a strong publication record and letters of
recommendation. This is thus an excellent opportunity for talented researchers
to try
something new.
Deadline for applications: February 1, 2008 (or until positions are filled)
Start date: Early 2008
2 Ph.D. Fellowships in Structural Bioinformatics /Experimental Protein Chemistry
&
Biophysics
Two Ph.D. positions are available in the research groups of Jan Jensen and Leila
Lo Leggio
at the Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen. The research is in the
area of
protein design and will involve using in–house computer software to guide the
design of
stable proteins and the experimental determination of the stability and
structure as a function
of pH. Experience in experimental protein chemistry is an advantage.
Deadline for applications: June 1, 2008 (or until positions are filled)
Start date: Summer/Fall 2008
Postdoc applications in the area of experimental protein chemistry or Ph.D.
applications in
the area of software development will also be considered for exceptional
applicants.
To apply please send a CV, and arrange for at least 2 letters of recommendation
to be sent, to
jhjensen at kemi.ku.dk.
