POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN EPIGENOMICS

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join us at the European
Molecular Biology Laboratory
(EMBL) =96 European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) at the prestigious
Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in
Hinxton, Cambridgeshire. The European Bioinformatics Institute
provides cutting edge research and
services for biomolecular data, including the high quality annotation
of biomolecular databases.

A computational biologist is sought to participate in the
investigation of large-scale epigenetic
mechanisms influencing transcriptional regulation and cell fate
assignment in mammals. The
successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis and
interpretation microarray and
high-throughput sequencing data for genetic variation, gene
expression, DNA methylation and other chromatin
modifications, as well as the development of new analytical methodologies.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field (e.g. Bioinformatics,
Applied Mathematics,
Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Molecular Biology with a
computational component).
Candidates with a solid background in computation and current
knowledge of eukaryotic genetics will be
considered. Expertise in statistical methods and the analysis of
oligonucleotide microarray data from
several major platforms (e.g. Affymetrix, NimbleGen) is essential.

Advanced experience with numerical computing software (e.g.
R/Bioconductor or Matlab) is required,
as is fluency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g.,
Lisp, Python, Java, Perl).
Experience with heterogeneous data integration and programmatic
database usage is also desirable.
