 *Research Engineer / Scientific Programmer*
*Computational Systems Biology *

at Science for Life Laboratory Uppsala University. The position is available
immediately and is a *permanent position* with a trial period of six months.

*SciLifeLab Uppsala: *Science for Life Laboratory Uppsala is a center that
joins together prominent researchers from Uppsala University with the vision
to become an internationally leading center that develops, applies, and
provides access to large-scale technologies for molecular biosciences with a
focus on translational medicine and on evolutionary and systems biology. The
center is* *composed of three technical platforms in genomics, proteomics
and comparative genetics and two research programs in evolutionary and
medical biology. http://www.scilifelab.se/

*UPPMAX*: Uppsala Multidisciplinary Center for Advanced Computational
Science is Uppsala University's resource of high-performance computers and
know-how of high-performance computing. UPPMAX is funded by the Faculty of
Science and Technology and the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing
(SNIC). In addition to system experts, whose role is mainly to make
efficient and reliable hardware resources available to users, UPPMAX has
application experts in different research areas. Their role is to serve as a
link between the users and the system experts and thereby give user support
on UPPMAX hardware and software resources. The current open positions are
intended to serve users within the communities of SciLifeLab Uppsala and the
UPPNEX (UPPmax NExt generation sequence Cluster & Storage) project.

*Description of work:* The role of the expert is to support users in
developing quantitative models for intracellular processes and to suggest
how these can be analyzed and simulated using state-of-the-art methods. One
focus will be to modify and develop algorithms and software solutions for
projects within molecular biosciences. *The employment also includes
research in spatial simulation methods for biochemical processes.*

*Qualifications:* We are looking for a person with a PhD in Systems Biology,
computational biology, computational physics or equivalent. Excellent
programming skill is a prerequisite. Experience of modeling of intracellular
processes is necessary. Furthermore, skills in image analysis, parallel
programming, as well as prior research and teaching experience will be
considered advantageous. The person shall be a link between technology and
the user and important personal characteristics that will be considered are:

   - Excellent collaborative, pedagogic and analytic skills
