Professor in Mathematical Statistics 

Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Umeå University,
Sweden.

Research at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics is
conducted within mathematics, mathematical statistics, mathematics
education, and computational science. Important cooperation partners include
the Institute of Technology, the biological and forestry departments and
industry. 

 

We are looking for a mathematical statistician who can develop our research
in the area of high-dimensional data analysis; for example RNA-seq data
analysis, methods for DNA sequence analysis and analysis of omics data.  The
department will provide resources to build up an activity in this area. The
position may include teaching  at both basic and advanced levels.

 

As a professor, you are expected to conduct and lead research of high
international quality, supervise doctoral students, successfully fund
research from external sources, develop partnerships and activities with
other institutions, and participate in education at all levels.

 

Applicants should have well documented experience in developing statistical
methods for analyzing high-dimensional data.  Applicants should have
experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, a proven track record of
successful supervision in postgraduate training and experience in providing
post-graduate courses in statistics or mathematical statistics. The ability
to teach in English is a requirement. The ability to lead, organize and
develop research is of great importance for the position.
