Subject: [Bio-X Faculty Affiliates] Feb 8, 2017 due date for Visiting Scholar Fellowships @ Stanford Bio-X - funded by Denmark's Novo Nordisk Foundation

Less than one month left until applications are due on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 for the 3rd round of the Visiting Scholar Fellowships @ Stanford Bio-X in collaboration with the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Awarded visiting scholars will be fully funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, with some funds provided to the hosting Stanford PI to cover research costs.

Background:
The Novo Nordisk Foundation<http://www.novonordiskfonden.dk/en> is one the largest European grant-giving foundations/trust funds focused on life sciences with corporate interests. In this RFP, Danish citizens who have just recently completed their PhDs are encouraged to apply for a visiting scholar fellowship that, if awarded, would provide the opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary and innovative postdoc-level research for 3 years at Stanford, and 1 year back at their hosting Danish institution.

This Visiting Scholar Fellowship<https://biox.stanford.edu/research/visiting-scholar-fellowships> is a great opportunity facilitated under the Stanford Bio-X community, and will have up to 2 new Danish scholars at Stanford for the Fall of 2017.

Four scholars<https://biox.stanford.edu/get-involved/corporations/corporate-affiliate-projects?field_corporate_affiliate_name_tid=All&field_research_area_target_id=5180&field_award_year_value%5bvalue%5d%5byear%5d=> have already been successfully selected in the last 2 rounds, and they’re a part of the following hosting departments: Radiation Oncology, Molecular & Cellular Physiology, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, and Chemical Systems & Biology.

How Danish citizens can apply:
We hope that you as the Stanford Bio-X PI will welcome discussions with any Danish applicant for this fellowship as every applicant requires a recommendation letter of commitment to hosting from a Stanford Bio-X PI, as well as endorsement of his/her research proposal in the application portfolio. Please also share this fellowship with any Danish colleagues that you feel could benefit from such an opportunity at Stanford.

To learn more about the RFP, please click here<http://novonordiskfonden.dk/en/content/visiting-scholar-fellowships-stanford-bio-x> for the Call. At the bottom of the Call are the specific instructions<http://novonordiskfonden.dk/sites/default/files/bio-x_2017_information_and_guidelines_0.pdf> that every applicant should review to apply. Please note: as this is an interdisciplinary fellowship, all selected visiting scholars are required to find at least one other Stanford Bio-X affiliated faculty member to be a co-mentor on their research project 6 months after starting their fellowship at Stanford.

Please don't hesitate to contact Hanwei Li<mailto:lhanwei1 at stanford.edu> if you have any questions.

Best,
Bio-X
