Dear all PhD Students (employees),

We got a request from the PhD Council to clarify the employment terms for PhD Students. Hopefully this email will give some useful information. If you have questions, don´t hesitate to contact your contact person (Angelina Llesi<mailto:angelina.llesi at fysik.su.se>, and Lisa Välivainio<mailto:lisa.valivainio at fysik.su.se> from April 30) at the Administration, located in the B4 corridor.

PhD Students with salary and employment from Stockholm University are employees and are entitled to benefits provided by the University such as vacation, pension, insurance, reimbursements, health care support etc. To be an employee means also that you are obligated to follow the collective agreement and the employment terms.

All employment terms are stated in "du och din arbetsplats<https://www.su.se/medarbetare/personal/anst%C3%A4llningsvillkor/du-och-din-arbetsplats-information-till-dig-som-anst%C3%A4lld-1.19859>" or "you and your workplace<https://www.su.se/english/staff/personnel/2.258/you-and-your-workplace-1.107592>" and at www.su.se/medarbetare<http://www.su.se/medarbetare> or www.su.se/staff<http://www.su.se/staff>.

The content of the collective agreement
(Collective agreements are negotiated and signed by the employers' association and the trade union, and they act as a complement to legislation)

· General regulations, employment forms, etc.

· Working hours

· Illness and medical care

· Leave

· Vacation

· Insurance and pension

Vacation is both an employee benefit but also an obligation. All employees should apply and use vacation. You have the right to 4 weeks of vacation during the summer months, June-August. Please see previous email concerning vacation for more information. You apply in Primula<https://hr.su.se/>, "My page" and "Vacation application". Put start date and end date and click on "Add" and "Submit".

Illness leave
You register illness leave up to 7 days in Primula. You can either only register a start date and complete with the end date when you´re well and back at work, or you register the full period when you return to work. Illness longer than 7 days requires a doctors certificate and should not be registered in Primula by you. Please send the doctors certificate to your contact person at the administration or to the Head (Sven Mannervik) directly. For Illness longer than 14 days, compensation will be paid from the Swedish Insurance Agency, Försäkringskassan, see more information: www.forsakringskassan.se<http://www.forsakringskassan.se>.

Reimbursements:

- Sports activities: 1500 sek per year (125 sek per month). Please note that if you only have employment from January to June, you can receive 750kr. When your employment is extended, you can claim the rest of the amount for the current year. Receipts older than 3 months will not be reimbursed according to SU policy.
