Ämne: Scientific Fika – Friday May 20th 4:00pm Hybrid Room Mega – Patryk “The light of corrugated shocks”

Dear Juniors,

It is a great pleasure to announce that on Friday, May 20th at 4:00pm, Patryk will talk about “The light of corrugated shocks”.

Abstract: Streams of particles moving close to the speed of light, or relativistic jets, are common in astrophysical systems -- from forming stars to supermassive black holes at the centres of galaxies. They are unlikely to be launched in a laminar fashion, and shocks are thus likely to form within them. These shocks can be an important feature in explaining how the light is emitted from these environments. Here, I will describe a project of our group looking at the effects associated with 2D structure of such shocks.

Please put this date in your calendar and come to discuss interesting science.
