***PhD position. Structural bioinformatics analysis of bioprospection
sequence data. University of Bergen.

A PhD position is opened at the Computational Biology Unit (Reuter
group[1]) at the University of Bergen (Norway). The PhD project will
consist in the prediction and analysis of folds and structures of
proteins identified in a marine bioprospection initiative. The goal of
the project is, together with the Center for Excellence in
Geobiology[2], to identify and characterize proteins relevant for a
number of identified industrial applications. The successful candidate
has a strong background in bioinformatics, preferably demonstrated by a
master’s degree in the field. Candidate with masters in other fields
will be considered only if they can demonstrate solid programming
skills, as well as background in bioinformatics and structural biology.

The place of work will be the Computational Biology Unit, where the
Reuter group is located (currently 3 PhD students and 2 postdocs). The
PhD grant will be given for four years, with 25% teaching duty towards
the Department of Informatics to which the PhD candidate will be
affiliated.

For more information, please contact Nathalie Reuter
